Halloween pix, and others from the past month, coming soon. Sneak preview: Reed = cowboy, Scarlett = cowgirl (albeit one not interested in wearing her giant pink hat). They lasted for all of seven houses before tacking back toward home and pounding some chocolate and lollipops.
What's new with these kids? Scarlett has had a language explosion lately. She's stringing together phrases more and more these days, like "More milk, please." My favorite is short and sweet: "Oh, Daddy!" surrounded in giggles as I tickle her mercilessly. The other day she farted quietly and laughed, saying, "Baby toot!" I said, "Scarlett! What do you say?" and she responded, "Thank you." Binky and Bump-Bump are regularly by her side around bedtime; she loves brushing teeth and baths; she's having fun at Johns Hopkins Toddler Co-op with a class full of cousins and pals.
Reed is still grumbling about school pretty much every day, even though he only goes three mornings a week. He is a coloring book fanatic (quite adept at staying within the lines) and a demanding patron of the arts, requesting daily drawings of animal rock bands, animal plumbers, animal electricians, animal gardeners, and so on. He has been prone to tantrums lately...an emotional little guy. We just wrapped up a fun Sports Mix class at the YMCA, where I think his favorite sport was hockey. Sensitive artist with a hockey stick. I guess that makes Kris a hockey mom.
October brought a trip to Wisconsin for Becca and Mike's wedding with the whole extended Schwitzer family. We saw my Mom's childhood homes, Marquette, and a lot of cows. It was Scarlett's first plane ride and only Reed's second, and the kids were great travelers throughout the long weekend, not to mention dancefloor fan-favorites at the wedding reception.
Tomorrow's our election. Is Obama the future? Will we have slot machines in Baltimore? Will the Spauldings conquer the world, after all?
